Welcome

If you enjoy the the wind on your face and open sky before you, you have come to a good place to find the romance and flavor of the West.

Lazy Cobbler

This updated version of an old cowboy dessert, sometimes called dump cake, will serve 12 hungry cowboys.
Cook in a 12’ Dutch oven.
Use 2 cans slices peaches or pineapple with syrup,(blackberries, cherries, etc. will also work). If using fresh fruit add 2 cups of water or fruit juice.
1 package of white or yellow cake mix,
1/3 stick butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Place fruit into Dutch oven.
Spread cake mix evenly over fruit.
Sprinkle cinnamon and thin slices of butter on top.
Place 15 hot charcoal briquettes under the bottom and 10 on the top of the lid of the Dutch oven.
Bake for about 45 minutes or until you can stick a toothpick into the cake
without having batter on it when you pull the toothpick out.
Or, you can place in glass baking dish and place in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or, until a toothpick comes out of the center clean.

Wow, that sounds good! 12 hungry cowboys! That's about 32 regular folks, right? LOL!

Now I can't wait for the weather to cool and take my Lil Tiger camping--we'll have to try this out for sure!

Thanks for the fun recipes AJ!

You're very welcome. I will look forward to the feedback after Lil Tiger helps his mom cook with the Dutch oven. What fun!

About Me

My photo
I love the wind in my face, the open sky before me, the romance and flavor of the West, but, most of all, our loving and living God, who created it all. I love how He works out His plans in the realm of human events, which is His Story. I have been blessed with a gift: a compulsion to write Historical and present-day novels set in the American West that demonstrate His power to transform ordinary people into true heroes and heroines. I am just a scribe really. I find the joy of participating in the creation of inspirational fiction indescribable. May our Lord Jesus Christ receive all of the credit and be glorified.
